Child Help Foundation Sets Up ‘Home for BMT’ in Mumbai to Support Children Undergoing Transplants

Child Help Foundation, a leading non-profit organization in the field of child welfare and humanitarian aid, has taken a historic step in healthcare. The organization has established a “Home for BMT” in Mumbai specifically for children who have undergone bone marrow transplants (BMT). The center has become a safe haven for families who travel to Mumbai from remote areas to seek treatment for their children with thalassemia and other serious illnesses.

It’s often seen that families outside the hospital walls struggle to meet basic needs like shelter, food, and transportation. “Home for BMT” seeks to address this gap. This initiative is not just a place to stay, but a comprehensive support system. Families living here are provided with nutritious meals, travel assistance, and daily essentials. Furthermore, the organization has also taken care of the children’s education, ensuring they don’t suffer during treatment and maintain the confidence to lead a normal life.

Child Help Foundation believes that healing isn’t just about medicine, but also about a positive environment. To date, the organization has helped more than 4,226 children fight life-threatening illnesses. Through this new initiative, the Foundation is addressing the untold challenges that impoverished families face during lengthy treatment.

Elaborating on this initiative, Mr. GG John, Executive Director of Child Help Foundation, said that the ‘Home for BMT’ was created not only to provide medical assistance, but also to provide emotional and practical support. He explained that in a city like Mumbai, high costs force many families to abandon treatment midway. This center eases the financial burden on parents so they can focus solely on their child’s recovery.

Fulfilling its responsibility to society, Child Help Foundation has proven its solidarity with children and their families during these difficult times. The “Home for BMT” is emerging as an invaluable contribution to society today.
